![]() ![]() ![]() Q: Is there a Mac OS X version of the Digidesign ASIO Driver? The Digidesign Core Audio Driver is used on Mac OS X. There are lots of interface choices out there.Digidesign ASIO Driver Q & A. Or at least I wold purchase it from a friendly retailer where I knew I could take it away and test it and return it with no hassles if there were any problems. Those issues, and Avid's slow support response on things, might make me nervous about buying an Mbox 3 family product now. And there are problems with the DSP effects in the Mbox, also discussed in threads here. There might be some problems at the moment with the Mbox family on Mountain Lion, there are a few problem reports circulating that *might* be driver problems, too early to know. The only ones that I am seeing are people who naively expect the Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter will work on PCs with Thubderbolt (it won't as there are no Windows drivers for it). Well the question for a sales guy was what was he trying to sell you instead?Īnd you should have asked him for details on exactly what problems people are having with this adapter. I can take it anywhere and connect it to whatever display source I find (monitor or TV due to HDMI output.) Granted I have a MBP as well it's still nice to know that if I need to do some portable recording with a bit more powerful computer I can take my main unit. The really surprising thing that I didn't think about was the portability of the little guy. I have one and its been quite amazing for me. The quad core variant is a 2.3 i7 which is a tad slower in the clock speed vs the iMacs however its a bit cheaper and you could get the iMac plus a really good external display for a little cheaper. Have you thought about a Mac Mini? You'd have FW800 and TB. Is it as simple as using a thunderbolt to FW800 adapter + a FW800 to FW 400 and making sure the mbox's drivers are up to date? Has anyone successfully connected an Mbox 2 Pro to an iMac thunderbolt port? The Mbox 2 Pro only has firewire 400 ports. I am looking get a new iMac as a replacement however the new iMacs have thunderbolt and usb 3.0 ports do not have firewire ports. My old Mac Book Pro with a firewire 400 port running PT8 is about to die. ![]()
